Summary: In this third installment of the Church History series, Martin Collins picks up the thread of the Thyatira era, beginning with the work of Peter Waldo, the Waldensians, the Albigensians battling the oppressive Roman Catholic church with the Papal bulls and anathemas from without and treacherous infiltrators from within (implanted by Inquisition sources), suffering incredible torture and martyrdom. As an act of self-preservation some compromised their convictions with the treacherous prophetess Jezebel (probing the depths of Satan), suffering God's displeasure added to the wrath of the Catholic persecutors. The remnant was protected from further persecution, but some lost their identity when they ceased trusting in God for their protection. From their valiant work in translating, the printed word of God spread throughout Europe. Compromise and assimilation seems to be the dominant weakness of the Thyatira era -a lesson hopefully not lost on us.
